From the heart of Nepal to the global stage, Sang Doma Sherpa’s journey is a powerful testament to dedication, resilience, and a deep commitment to reshaping the world through education. An MBA Class of 2020 graduate, Sang Doma’s inspiring story begins in the narrow streets of her childhood, where the rhythmic beats of community life instilled in her a sense of unity and hope.

A Vision Born from Humble Beginnings

Growing up in a vibrant yet challenging environment, Sang Doma was deeply moved by the transformative power of education. Her early experiences, underscored by the simple yet profound sounds that echoed through her neighborhood, ignited a lifelong passion for change. This passion led her to pursue a career as a Program Designer and Management Consultant in Nepal, where she witnessed firsthand the struggles of illiteracy and its far-reaching effects on communities.

Founding Calls Over Ridges Nepal (CORN)

Determined to create a future where every child can thrive, Sang Doma set out to eliminate illiteracy in Nepal. In 2017, she founded Calls Over Ridges Nepal (CORN), a nonprofit organization dedicated to transforming the country’s educational landscape in line with Sustainable Development Goal #4: Quality Education. CORN’s mission is clear: to ensure that every child, regardless of their circumstances, has access to quality education and the opportunity to build a better life.

Under her visionary leadership, CORN has launched a variety of impactful initiatives, including the following:

  • Scholarship Programs: These provide financial support to underprivileged students.

  • Nutritious Meal Programs: Ensuring that students are well-fed and ready to learn.

  • Teacher Training: Empowering educators with the skills and knowledge they need to inspire young minds.

  • Educational Infrastructure Projects: Building and improving facilities to create conducive learning environments.

Expanding Impact Beyond Borders

Sang Doma’s commitment to education goes beyond Nepal. With the support of her co-founders at HQ, CORN’s efforts have expanded to the Philippines and Malaysia, with ambitious plans to eradicate illiteracy globally. Her belief in community-driven solutions has fostered strong partnerships with local communities and global allies, creating a ripple effect of transformation that promises to last for generations.

A Journey of Resilience and Hope

Every challenge Sang Doma has faced has only strengthened her resolve to fight for education as a fundamental right. Her journey is not just about overcoming obstacles; it is about finding strength in adversity and using that strength to empower others. Her work stands as a beacon of hope for thousands of children, families, and communities across Nepal and beyond.
